Thrifty Skirts

Ok so lately I have been wanting long or semi-long skirts..ONE because its getting warmer, SECOND I don't really own any and THIRD I have seen some cute ones that have sorta inspired me to want one!

Bohemian style

Love this blue skirt!

Maxi Skirts!

Well I'm a money saving, budget friendly kind of girl so I'm not wanting to spend lots of money and so I was really excited to find these skirts at some thrift stores!

This first one let me just say, some blood was shed over it....lol... no really...and it wasn't because I was fighting someone for it. The tag was stapeled to the skirt and as I was trying it on the staple literally cut my thumb, almost like a paper cut but times10 and it cut my leg! So of course I had to buy it for all that pain!
But hey it was 50% off so I only paid $1.50

Not only is the skirt thrifted but I got the gold belt too!
(Oh with me is Val, she is one of our leaders in our discipleship program and she is amazing!)

So if your wanting something light and breezy and into saving money go get yourself a thrifty skirt!

More than just a Candlestick

Wow its May, I haven't posted in a few weeks, I have been away.. literally. My husband and I took a team to Killeen and then to North Carolina we got to be a part of Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday services at some of our friends' church and it was amazing.... So that's my excuse! But its good to be back this week and I am excited to share a new a project with you!
The last 2 months I have spent organizing my closest, putting my winter clothes away, and etc. Well, right now I just have my hats in a basket hidden in the closet and I really don't like them there. So with that on my mind and the fact that I really want a cute but organized room; my husband and I went on a lil day date downtown and went into a couple antique stores and I saw hat racks ranging from $10-30 dollars, I didn't want to buy them so I went home and had been thinking about how I could make my own hat racks...
As I'm getting ready for bed sometimes I like to have my candles going to sorta calm me from the day. Well as I'm about to get in bed all of the sudden I had an idea..."What if I take a candlestick spray paint it and make it a hat rack?" Kinda weird but sometimes I will get an idea right before I go to bed and then I fall asleep thinking about if it will really work and then I wake up in the morning and ask myself if I was dreaming or I really did have an idea.. Lol random but yes I have to say this idea actually worked for me and the best part.....under $4!!

I found these candlesticks at the thrift store:

Ok the one on the left cost me $1.49 and the one on the right was discounted to $1.12, I definitely wouldn't pay more than $2 because the whole point of me doing this was to be inexpensive

Spray Paint: $.96 I went with the cheapest brand and took a risk, risk being I didn't want a glossy white and this spray paint doesn't tell you if its glossy or satin because...well its cheap. But it worked great!

I had to give the candlestick with the leaves on it about 3 coats to cover up that pink and green.

But Here it is:

I don't wear a ton of hats so I figure I can rotate my winter hats out for spring/summer

You can't even tell its a candlestick!

Once again easy and my hats are not hidden, and if I ever need a candlestick.... I have 2!
